Man With Handgun Sexually Assaults Teen Jogger Near Tesla's Headquarters in Palo Alto: Police

The search for a sexual assault suspect continues despite Palo Alto police having called off the search about two hours after their initial arrival at the scene. They believe the suspect has left the Palo Alto area but detectives continue to search.

Police continue to search for a man who they say sexually assaulted a teen jogger near Tesla's headquarters in Palo Alto.

The incident was reported 1:45 p.m. Wednesday in the greenbelt area near Arastradero and Dry Creek roads.

Police said the suspect, who was armed with a handgun, pulled a high school-aged jogger off a path and sexually assaulted the girl. The man then fled the scene and the victim flagged down a passerby in the area to call for help. The girl was transported to a hospital for treatment. Officers said the teen was in stable condition.

Police searched for the suspect for two hours before calling it off after it was believed he fled the Palo Alto area.

The suspect is described as a man in his 20s, about 5 feet, 10 inches tall. He was last seen wearing a black sweatshirt, blue sweatpants and was armed with a handgun.
