A driver on Sunday struck a pedestrian in the Oakland Hills in what police are calling a possible case of road rage.
Officers around 6 p.m. responded to the area of Gavin and Aitken drives after receiving word that a driver was "making several attempts to strike pedestrians," police said.
Video taken at the scene shows the driver of a silver Chevrolet Bolt deliberately attempt to hit at least three pedestrians.
After a number of attempts, the driver struck one of the pedestrians who was recovering at the hospital with a broken tailbone Tuesday.
“I’m in a lot of pain. I’ll be honest I got prescribed some pain medication and it’s the only thing allowing me to sit down right now," said Joseph Lax. "I can’t sleep. Just emotionally, especially with her almost getting hit, it’s just bothering us.”
Lax and his girlfriend Ally Amaral say they were driving down the hill, and a Chevy Bolt nearly hit them coming up it.

The driver had road rage – and started shouting.
“Essentially got to the point he got really aggressive saying ‘I’m gonna kill you, I’m going to kill your girlfriend, I’ll kill your sister.’ her half sister is in the car,” said Lax.

He said the video shows the second time the driver turns around and speeds back up to hit them while they’re out of the car, missing by inches.
The driver comes a third time, hitting Lax, spinning him around, where he broke his tailbone.
“The fact that the neighbor actually warned me saved my life. Because I had my back turned to him initially,” he said. “I wasn’t even really thinking he’d come back. I was just trying to get everyone settled. There was a lot of adrenaline. This happened so quick.”
The driver is still on the loose.
The couple said police have a warrant for his arrest. They won’t sleep until they know he’s behind bars.
“It’s just really frustrating that he’s still able to walk out or drive, we also just don’t know where he is or what he could do,” said Amaral.
