Ro Khanna Launches Campaign Against Mike Honda for Congress

On Saturday, Ro Khanna declared his candidacy for the 17th Congressional District seat held by Mike Honda. If that sounds familiar, it’s because they battled for the seat in 2014, with Honda winning by 3.6 percent. So what can we expect this time? NBC Bay Area Political Analyst Larry Gerston explains why the race captures so much interest.

Ro Khanna launched another campaign to challenge fellow Democrat, congressman Mike Honda.

Honda edged Khanna in a costly election last November by a margin of 52 to 48 percent.

On Saturday, Khanna explained why he's running in Santa Clara.

"For the first time, there is an anxiety about whether that American dream that my parents came to this country for, whether that dream is going to exist," Khanna said.

Khanna enjoys the support of many tech industry leaders, and he's worked closely with San Jose mayor Sam Liccardo.

Both candidates each spent more than $3 million on their campaigns last year.
