Tree Crashes on Top of Cars in San Francisco, Uproots Gas Line

Trees on Tuesday morning fell on a San Francisco housing project, causing a temporary gas leak and evacuations, according to fire officials. Chuck Coppola reports.

A large pine tree on Tuesday morning uprooted a gas line and crashed on top of multiple cars in a San Francisco neighborhood, less than a block away from another toppled tree that fell on a housing complex over the weekend.

The recent piece of uprooted lumber fell around 6:30 a.m. on Tuesday near 145 Blythdale Ave.

PG&E crews were summoned to the scene and secured the gas leak just before 9:30 a.m, according to fire officials.

No injuries were reported, fire officials said.

The other large tree that collapsed onto a housing project over the weekend has yet to be removed as of Tuesday.
