A shooting in southeast San Jose left a man dead early Sunday morning.
Police arrived at the 100 block of Goldenrain Drive shortly after 3 a.m., where they found a man sufferering from at least one gunshot wound. He was pronounced dead at approximately 3:55 a.m.
It is the city's 43nd homicide of the year. That number includes a homicide investigated by San Jose State University police but did not occur within the technical boundaries of the San Jose police jurisdiction.
A neighbor said he heard shots fired.
"We just heard a couple of gunshots, like bam bam," Brian Adamson said. "That was it--nothing else, and then a few minutes later, I heard sirens and cops pulling up."
The investigating is ongoing and no suspects have been identified. It is unknown if the shooting was gang-related.
It was a violent weekend in the South Bay. In addition to San Jose's 42nd homicide, there was a fatal officer-involved shooting and another homicide in an unincorporated part of San Jose.
