Camp Fire

Santa Rosa College, City Schools Closed Due to Air Quality

The Camp Fire burning in Butte County has torched at least 20,000 acres as of Thursday evening, according to Cal Fire. The wildfire was at zero percent containment Friday morning. Bob Redell reports.

A college and all city schools in Santa Rosa will be closed Friday because of the smoke from the Camp Fire in Butte County, school officials said.

All classes and activities are canceled at Santa Rosa Junior and at all Santa Rosa City Schools because "the air quality is nearing the hazardous range, and we believe it is safer for students and staff to remain indoors at home," said Santa Rosa City Schools.

The poor air quality has prompted the Bay Area Air Quality Management District to issue a Spare the Air alert for the San Francisco Bay Area for Friday.
