Hog & Rocks, a popular Mission District eatery has found a way around California's foie gras ban for a brief time, according to SFist.
It appears that New Year's Eve diners at the restaurant who ordered the a $24 burger were offered a side of foie gras compliments of the chef, Eater SF first reported.
And since the liver confection is a gift, and not part of the bill of fare, it's legal, the news source noted.
The item at the restaurant "sold out in minutes," according to chef Robin Song.
