BERKELEY, CA – OCTOBER 15: A Bay Area Rapid Transit (BART) train emerges from a tunnel on October 15, 2013 in Berkeley, California. BART management and union leaders with Bay the Amalgamated Transit Union Local 1555 and the SEIU Local 1021 continue to negotiate a new contract for workers as the threat of a transit strike continues to loom over the heads of Bay Area commuters. BART officials halted Green Line service between Berryessa and Daly City stations Thursday morning, and it wasn't restored until more than two hours later.

The 5:36 a.m. news release provided no cause and no further details about the service stoppage.

BART later said it was recovering from an equipment problem on the tracks. As of 8 a.m., a 20-minute delay remained on the Berryessa line in all directions because of the equipment problem at the Bay Fair station, BART officials said.
