Man Arrested After Lengthy Standoff at San Jose's Welch Park

A man is in custody after a lengthy standoff in the South Bay atop a roof. It started before midnight near Welch Park, not far from Tully. The man was not armed. But police say they received calls that he was trying to light the roof of the home on fire. When officers arrived, they say he appeared to be agitated. They also say he knows the people who live there. After about one hour. Officers safely talked the man down. They’re still trying to sort out what kind of charges will be filed.
