Winter-Like Week Ahead

While Halloween looks fine with some cooling and the return of some coastal clouds, the weather for the rest of the week bears watching both for fire danger issues and our first real taste of winter-like weather heading into next weekend. As north winds kick in Tuesday, we’ll see humidity levels drop leading to the likelihood of some fire weather watches into early Wednesday. If winds manage to be sustained near 30 mph, some red flag warnings may also be issued as well. Winds should ease some into Wednesday evening before a cold, deep trough moving in from the Gulf of Alaska brings our temperatures down into the 50s and 60s. Depending on where this trough sets up will determine just how much moisture is scooped up over the ocean in terms of rain totals or a more inland-route could end up being colder and more showery for us. At the moment, the latter is looking more likely but snow levels will be surprisingly low for this time of year heading into next weekend. Keep an eye on Jeff and Christina’s forecasts this week monitoring both those fire weather midweek concerns and chilly Winter-like weather later in the week. In the meantime, soak in this wonderful Sunday and pleasant Halloween weather. Hoping you have a spooktacular time with your holiday parties/plans! – Rob Mayeda
