Some Showers Soon

Expect more clouds filling in during the day with increasing chances for some showers – highest for areas north of San Francisco heading into the afternoon. We’re dealing with a fairly challenging forecast on two fronts. First, we’ll see a weakening/stalling frontal boundary drop into the Bay Area by evening. This will bring some rain southward and probably into parts of the Bay Area into early Friday. Rainfall amounts are expected to be fairly light (locally higher in the North Bay) and very widely scattered. The second challenge comes for this weekend with an area of low pressure stalling briefly offshore before swinging inland Sunday afternoon. This system will likely pinwheel some showers across the area on Saturday then provide a better dose of rain later Sunday as the main system crosses the coastline and moves across the state. Showers should end briefly on Monday with another round of some rain for areas mainly north of San Francisco resuming on Wednesday. – Rob Mayeda
