Windy Finish to the Weekend

With low pressure deepening the pressure gradient over the Bay Area will tighten up during the day, with the net result being increasing southerly winds from 15-30 mph and locally higher gusts near the coast and higher hills. A wind advisory for the coastal areas should expire around 9pm tonight.Areas of drizzle or light rain are also possible early in the day especially near the peninsula and North Bay where low level moisture rising over the mountains will have a chance for at least some measurable rain. Ongoing chances for showers mixed with sunshine will be the trend not just for this afternoon but its looking like all the way into Wednesday. The most likely areas to see showers will be over the coastal range and higher elevations inland. Look for shower chances to increase on Monday and into Tuesday as the offshore low begins tracking inland, with cooler air aloft and more moisture to work with streaming in from the south and southeast. The second half of the week an into next weekend should be trending less windy, warmer and drier to start next weekend.Rob Mayeda
