Bay Forecast: Cool Weekend With Showers

The ‘unofficial start to Summer’ will instead feel more like March than May with highs in the 50s/60s for most and even a chance for showers at times as well. An area of low pressure will head inland and over the Bay Area today bringing an unusually cold pocket of air with it. This ought to bring enough instability to warrant a few showers – higher odds near the hilltops at times, and support snow near 6,000ft. on Saturday and dropping to near 4-5,000 ft. on Sunday! The culprit to our coolish weather continues to be a dip in the jet stream or trough hung up on the West Coast. As there seems to be no real sign of the jet migrating northward to Canada (where it belongs by late May/early June) it would seem we’ll see more 50s to low 70s in the extended forecast as well. Video forecast includes a sneak preview of some Winter-like Sierra weather expected this weekend. Enjoy your Memorial Day Weekend – Rob Mayeda
