Bay Forecast: Wild Weather Ahead

So our weather lately has made the calendar largely irrelevant – and coming up now a weekend storm that could break many records for June rainfall. Two items to watch starting Saturday morning will be locally gusty hilltop and inland valley winds in the 15-35 mph range as very unusually strong low deepens west of San Francisco through midday Saturday. The other obvious component will be the rain – which for south/southwest-facing areas along the coastal mountains will yield rain totals likely in the 1″-3″+ range by the end of Sunday. Inland totals may vary as winds to start will limit some rainfall, however things will trend more favorable for filling rain gauges through the day Saturday and Sunday off/on at times as bands of showers and possibly some thundershowers rotate through the Bay Area. By Monday we’ll see showers slowly shutting down around the evening – leading much more typical drier weather from Tuesday and beyond, though temperatures aren’t expected to climb too quickly – mainly 60s-70s after we lose the sogginess from the forecast starting Monday evening. – Rob Mayeda
