Chilly Start, Chance for Rain Later

Expect a chilly start to Friday morning with temps in the mid 30s to 40s, including a few isolated areas of patch frost possible in our inland valleys. We’ll see increasing cloud during the afternoon which will keep our temperatures from warming too much with highs mainly in the upper 40s to mid 50s. Some light rain or sprinkles are possible at times, especially near the coast and North Bay. Our weather system is expected to make a turn down the coast instead of crossing over the Bay Area and inland. This will keep the best rain chances near the immediate coastline and rain totals are expected to be on the lighter side compared to Sunday’s soaking or even our Christmas Day storm. This system will also be colder, with snow levels possibly dipping briefly down to 2,000-3,000 ft in the North Bay before the moisture heads south and leads to clearing into Saturday afternoon. We should manage mainly dry weather from Sunday into Monday morning with a few light showers possible in the North Bay at times into the New Year. A better chance for more rain arrives around Wednesday of next week. – Rob Mayeda
