Christmas Day Storm Outlook

A short break from the rain will eventually give way to increasing southerly winds and increasing rain for Saturday. This system unlike the others we have seen this week will focus in mainly across the upper half of the state. We’re expecting winds to increase as an area of low pressure deepens offshore – winds should rise into the 20-35 mph range as the frontal system approaches and midday rain will likely be heavy at times for Saturday. Some embedded thunder is likely with the passage of the cold front into Saturday evening with Sunday being a day full of showers, a few sunny breaks and continued breezy conditions. Monday and Tuesday should offer some drier weather with a few showers mainly across the North Bay before another round of moderate to heavy rain arrives again on Wednesday. As long as the jet stream remains off/on anchored on the Northern California coast – we’ll continues in this pattern of strong weather systems arriving every 2-3 days.
