Cool & Dry, Gusty Winds Returning Soon

The weekend will wrap up cooler and less windy at least during the day Sunday. Thanks to some very dry air and clear skies, we may see some areas of patchy frost in our wind-protected valleys but most locations near the hills will still see enough wind to keep temperatures up in the 40s. Highs will rebound nicely into the upper 50s to mid 60s during the afternoon. Another area of low pressure will rotate down east of the Sierra that will throttle up the winds again starting later Sunday night and peaking around midday Monday. Wind speeds may again approach 45-50 mph gusts in our hills with 15-30 mph winds elsewhere. Now that we’ve seen several days of breezy, dry weather with below average rainfall totals for this time of year – we may see a combination of wind advisories and possibly some red flag warnings for our the hilltop zones. So stay tuned. Dry weather is expected to continue into the start of next weekend with our next potential chance for rain arriving around the 11th. – Rob Mayeda
