Cool Temps & Tropic Thunder Ahead?

Our temperatures really nosedived in our inland valleys thanks to some blustery onshore winds – many spots a good 10-15 degrees below average for this time of year! Sunday will likely start out with more low clouds and areas of drizzle or even spotty light rain, before skies clear and temperatures climb to near Saturday’s levels though possibly a tad warmer inland for the TriValley. Monday and Tuesday will see warming as high pressure from the Desert Southwest nudges closer to California. Also of note – moisture from former Tropical Storm Greg will begin moving into this upper air pattern, moving up and around the ridge to our southeast and pulled northward by a trough sitting just off our coast to the northwest. At some point around Tuesday afternoon we may begin seeing some mid & high level clouds streaming in which may warrant a slight risk for showers or possibly some thunder near the coastal range. We’ll keep on eye on this for sure esp. with fire season underway. Aside from this issue around midweek, temperatures will likely drop again heading towards next weekend as the trough wins the battle over controlling our overall weather pattern and the Desert Southwest high retreats again. Enjoy your Sunday! – Rob Mayeda
