Dry Start, Winter-Like Finish to the Week

Aside from patchy areas of fog/low clouds we’re in for some pleasant Fall weather through midweek. However beyond Thursday things quickly begin to change, enough so you may wonder if the calendar suddenly leaped into January. A cold trough of low pressure will begin sliding south by Thursday night. We’ll likely see some moderate rain with the cold front passage on Friday that will usher in drier, and much cooler air aloft into the Bay Area. Though timing is a little suspect this far out from next weekend, its looking like the coolest air will arrive in between weather systems around Saturday morning which means any scattered showers in the Bay Area at this time will support snow showers in the 2,500-3,000 ft. range and possibly include some ice pellet/hail showers with a few more active cells. Another weather system spreads rain over the Bay Area into Saturday evening/Sunday morning with some embedded thunder possible especially over the ocean/coastal areas where the warmer sea surface below may help promote some brief thunder activity. Sunday should trend drier though the day with highs having a tough time climbing past the mid 50s. Novem-brr indeed! Its looking like we’ll see a break in the action early next week before more rain arrives another 2-3 days later. Enjoy your Monday! – Rob Mayeda
