Heat Wave Arrives

A strong ridge of high pressure is moving closer to the Bay Area with origins in the Desert Southwest. Much warmer and drier air aloft will lead to warming temps into the upper 90s to near 100 inland by Friday and likely warm a few degrees more from Sunday into Monday as high pressure reaches its strongest point near the Bay Area.A heat advisory is up for all inland Bay Area communities away from the inner bay (San Francisco and Oakland not included) with valley temps in the upper 90s to near 105 on Monday. You’ll want to stay hydrated and check on the elderly and children more sensitive to hot weather. Please remember to bring your pets indoors and out of cars as well. Cooling should return to the coastline around Tuesday and begin bringing down inland temperatures by next Wednesday and 4th of July Thursday. – Rob Mayeda
