Heat and Fire Danger Kick Off the Weekend

Dry north to northeast winds will increase over the hills heading into Saturday morning, helping to mix down warming, drying air aloft to the hills. A Red Flag Warning is up for the hills of the North Bay through mid-morning Saturday, then as wind speeds ease, the Red Flag warnings should expire, however fire danger will remain dry as air mass in place continues to trend warm/hot with low humidity levels. Highs will quickly climb well into the 90s inland with some temps in the 100-105 range possible especially in parts of Napa, Solano, and eastern Contra Costa, Alameda counties. Closer to the coast and inner bay highs should remain more mild with temps closer to the mid 70s and 80s. A sea breeze should begin cranking up Saturday night, leading to a cooler push of ocean air-conditioning for the coast and bay on Sunday with inland temps cooling a few degrees to end the weekend, with a larger drop in temps as the marine layer deepens into Monday. Enjoy your Saturday! – Rob Mayeda
