Low Clouds vs. Mountain Thunder

We’re seeing a uniquely Bay Area or should I say Northern California weather experience outside. For the most part, our weather is being affected by an onshore breeze that will spill in low clouds late night and early morning into the bay with some areas of drizzle. Another batch of moisture – the mid-level variety is helping provide fuel for daytime/evening thundershowers over the Sierra and parts of the coastal range. Most of this moisture is expected to remain east of the Central Valley, however as these storms weaken, remnant moisture (aka high clouds) may drift in from the east both Tuesday and Wednesday. The thunder threat should slide eastward as we see stronger southwesterly winds higher up as an upper level system approaches for the end of the week. This will likely also help strengthen our onshore wind pattern leading to a cooling trend of the second half of the work week. Enjoy your Tuesday! – Rob Mayeda
