Illinois Police Officer Charged for Fight Caught on Body Camera

Springfield Police Officer Samuel Rosario has been charged with battery and official misconduct for fighting a young man while responding to a domestic disturbance call last month. The incident was caught on Officer Rosario’s body camera as well as a backup officer’s camera. The backup officer reported the incident to his supervisor and Officer Rosario was arrested by Illinois State Police the following morning. Officer Rosario has been placed on unpaid administrative leave pending the outcome of an internal investigation. Official misconduct is a Class 3 felony which is punishable by 2 to 5 years in prison.
