President Obama Delays Troop Drawdown in Afghanistan

President Barack Obama announced Thursday, Oct. 15, 2015 that 9,800 troops currently in Afghanistan would stay through most 2016 to help train the Afghan security forces and stabilize the region, in an abrupt turnaround from a plan outlined last year to only leave 1,000 servicemembers in Kabul as a security force.
