Rare June Rain Before Heating Again

What seems like par for the course at this point in our rather strange weather from May-June, we’ll see a very, late season weather system spinning down from the Gulf of Alaska bringing a chance for rain during the day Tuesday with temperatures only in the 50s to low 70s! Given the nature of the cooler air aloft, decent low level moisture and warmer air + moderate lift in the atmosphere, this could be a recipe for some isolated thunder both only the frontal boundary itself and in the form of isolated showers into the afternoon on Tuesday. Its still looking like areas north of San Francisco will see the most out of this system with showers shutting down early on Wednesday. High pressure “reigns” supreme starting Thursday and Friday, rapidly warming and drying thing out with highs soaring back well above average approaching the 4th of July weekend – highs easily into the 80s and 90s around the Bay/inland by Friday and possibly even hotter for the weekend. What a weird week of weather! – Rob Mayeda
