Videocast: Clouds and Cooling, Some Showers Possible

The return of onshore winds and low clouds will continue to keep our temperatures closer to the mid 50s to low 60s over the next two days. Later on Tuesday we’re expecting clouds to thicken as a weather system drops in overnight into Wednesday that will give us a shot of some showers through midday Wednesday. High pressure is expected to quickly build in behind this departing weather system by Wednesday night, likely giving us a short burst of breezy/dry northerly to offshore winds. The air will dry and warm for the end of the work week which means 60s around the coast and bay with some lower 70s possible for areas in the South Bay down to Gilroy by Friday. The long range models keep going back and forth with some shower chances by the end of the weekend, but the trend for now appears to keep things dry and bring slight cooling by early next week. Also on this clip – Brent Cannon and I chat about the nice honor given to us by the American Meteorological Society for our NBC Bay Area program, “On Thin Ice” (which you can still view on this website). I got to take home the excellence in science reporting award from the AMS last week in New Orleans which was a wonderful experience. Thanks for the support for the program and your kind words online and off air for our project! Enjoy your Tuesday! – Rob Mayeda
