Videocast: Dry, Breezy & Mild Start to 2012

The new year is starting with the same weather from before, with more dry days ahead with only a few passing chances for showers mainly into the far North Bay. Still no real sign of much needed snow for the Sierra either. For Sunday, we’ll see chilly 30s in our wind-protected valleys with 40s and 50s elsewhere exposed to offshore winds. The computer models are showing a surprising pop in temps especially over the South Bay with highs projected into the low 60s to lower 70s! If the latter proves true, we could see some records broken, but it does appear fairly certain we’ll see dry weather to start out the first week of the new year.Monday will feature extra clouds as a weather system may toss some coastal drizzle, light rain for areas along the North Coast followed up by more dry weather through midweek. Another chance arrives Thursday, again aimed primarily into the far North Bay in terms of showers. High pressure will strengthen (again) behind that system and give us another dose of dry, offshore winds starting on Friday.Long-Range Outlook: Pencil in 1/14 – 1/20 on your calendar, as its looking like a long-wave pattern change is finally trying to take shape that would bring storms through the Bay Area and toss some much needed rain our way. In the meantime, enjoy your New Year’s Day and best wishes for a Happy 2012! – Rob Mayeda
