Videocast: Dry Days Continue

Overcast skies and patchy fog will kick off Monday before some northerly winds pick up late in the day helping to bring some clearing and subtle warming to parts of the Bay Area. Highs for places like Santa Rosa and Fairfield should warm under these conditions as downsloping winds boost temperatures closer to the 60s, expect mainly mid 50s to near 60 degree temperatures elsewhere. Winds will increase briefly overnight into Tuesday morning before easing again Tuesday evening. High pressure is expected to maintain its grip over our weather for most of the week. There is one chance on Thursday a weakening system will bring a slight chance for some showers mainly for areas in the North Bay. However, the trend in the forecast models has been to take most of the energy with this system up and over the Bay Area and dropping down into the Desert Southwest, in which case we would be staying dry and likely see a return to some offshore winds picking up into Friday. Long range models are beginning to hint at a pattern shift occurring around the 28th of the month as high pressure begins to flatten a bit, possibly allowing some rain our way to wrap up the month. However as things stand today with most of the Bay Area’s monthly totals in the less than .20″ range, we’re looking at being the driest December since 1989 if these numbers hold up. Let’s hope not. Enjoy your Monday – Rob Mayeda
