Videocast: From Drizzle to Breezy Finish

Lots of clouds and areas of drizzle and light rain around the Bay Area this morning – especially near the hills where the mtns are adding a little extra lift to that low level moisture to wring out some light rain/misty conditions. A fairly weak cold front will pass through the Bay Area around mid-morning and behind it we’re expecting NW winds to kick in for the afternoon. The wind should help mix down some drier air into the region and lead to clearing skies from north to south by late afternoon. Temps will be fairly cool with mainly 50s around the coast and peninsula, and a few inland valley sites hitting the 60s as northwesterly winds dry things out and warm temps just a little bit around midday. The surge of drier, cooler air should set us up for a chilly night, especially for wind protected areas that stay clear – following by cool daytime temps on Sunday that should see nearly all of the Bay Area in the mid 50s. We’ll see another chance for some showers later in the day – mainly near the coast and peninsula – but this system looks fairly weak and moisture starved so other than a few stray showers or drizzle at times – the weather impact on the ongoing Bay Bridge construction should be minimal rain-wise, those briefly gusty winds could slow things down especially for crews working on higher span areas. The forecast for next week is looking Spring-like with a chance of seeing some 70s around Wednesday.Enjoy your Saturday! – Rob Mayeda
