Videocast: Lunar Eclipse and Sunday Showers

Most of the Bay Area managed a decent glimpse of the lunar eclipse overnight, though if you did venture outside this morning it was nearly painfully cold! Many 20s and 30s for our inland valleys to start things off, and with filtered sunshine today (due to mid and high level clouds) we’ll likely see daytime highs staying fairly cool as well – mainly 50s to lower 60s at best. More clouds will begin spilling in for Sunday with shower chances increasing especially for areas south of San Francisco. This weather system will likely move in over Santa Barbara with the Bay Area on the northern fringe for rain. Its looking like showers will continue rotating inland from the south and southeast into early Monday morning as the low scoots by to our south. Things should trend drier again Tuesday into early Wednesday before another chance for showers (mainly North Bay its looking at this point) arrives Wednesday night into Thursday. Overall though our weather pattern remains really quite dry, and we’re starting to fall behind in the rainfall and Sierra snowpack totals. I know its not much fun to deal with showers for weekend plans, but hopefully this system will at least help mix out some of the poor air quality we’ve see of late with Spare the Air alerts and bring some much needed rain to our unusually dry hills around the Bay Area. Enjoy your Saturday! – Rob Mayeda
