Weekend Weather Preview

After a week of Summer-like temperatures, we’re seeing some rather significant changes for the weekend. For sure, things will be cooler and breezy with highs mainly in the 60s and 70s around the bay with a few 80s inland for Saturday. By Sunday, we’ll be watching an area of low pressure forming into a fairly compact weather system that should spin by just to the south of us. There should be enough moisture with this system to bring a chance of showers our way for Sunday into Monday. The question remains how much rain and how intense might it be? We’ll call for widely scattered showers for Sunday and Monday – mainly areas south of San Francisco. There may be an opportunity for some thunder as well due to the colder air aloft and decent upper level wind support (mainly across Central California) to fire off some isolated stronger storms. After Monday, this system will close off over Southern California/Nevada with high pressure build in which should kick up some north/northeast winds over the Bay Area heading into Tuesday. – Rob Mayeda
