Wet and Windy Weekend Ahead

A brief break in between weather systems will lead to less showers but more clouds will be spilling in by the afternoon as our next weather system bears down on us for tonight. This second system will spill some rain across the Bay Area during the day Saturday with moderate rain at times. We’ll see another round of rain moving in during Sunday – this time packing some pretty gusty wind at times and the greatest potential for heavy rain (especially around the North Bay hills). As this Sunday system will have tapped into some juicy tropical air streaming away from Typhoon Megi in the Western Pacific, there’s a good bet for some heavy rain – along the North Coast. The computer models are still having some issues with how far south this heavier line of rain will end up – but it appears we’ll see some moderate to briefly heavy rain dropping southward into the central Bay Area by Sunday afternoon.Lingering showers will follow into Monday morning with clearing and mainly dry conditions through midweek as the storm track edges just far north enough away from the Bay Area to keep rain out of the forecast from Tuesday-Wednesday.- Rob Mayeda
