Wintry Blast Coming Soon

It may be especially hard to believe given how we broke records for highs around the Bay Area with temps nearing 70 in spots, but a big change is one the way including some rain, much cooler temps and possibly some snow to our higher peaks.Tuesday we’ll transition back to an onshore wind pattern with increasing clouds which should drop temps by 5-10 degrees. A few sprinkles and some light rain will begin to arrive after sunset especially for areas north of San Francisco. Rain will spread southward into Wednesday more with some very chilly air aloft – cold enough to support some snow to near 3,500 ft by midday. This cold air may also provide a chance for some ice pellet or hail/brief thundershowers around this time as well. Showers should shut down Wednesday night setting us up for some possibly frosty temperatures for Thursday morning, and again on Friday morning as well. – Rob Mayeda
