New Attraction Offers Camel Rides in Nevada

A new riding facility in Southern Nevada won’t be saddling up any ponies. This one is all about a different sort of desert dweller: the camel. “Believe it or not, this is where camels originated, North America and specifically habitat like this,” said Camel Safari owner Guy Seeklus. Just over a year ago, Seeklus bought 176 acres just outside of Mesquite. Now, his family attraction is ready to go with guided desert tours, from the back of the 7-foot giant. “People always ask do they spit? If you provoke anything enough it’ll spit on you. But typically they are gentle animals,” Seeklus said.
