SUV Slams Into PETA Office Named for TV Host Bob Barker in Echo Park

Employees inside a Los Angeles PETA office are shaken up after an SUV plowed into the building. Michelle Valles reports for the NBC4 News at 5 and 6 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 16, 2015.

An SUV crunched into an Echo Park office that belongs to an animal rights group Friday morning.

No one was injured in the 10:31 a.m. crash, in the 2100 block of Sunset Boulevard, according to the Los Angeles Fire Department.

The damaged building belonged to People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals, an animal rights advocacy group more commonly known as PETA.

"It was almost as if there was an explosion," Alicia Woempner of PETA said.

All employees and dogs inside the office were OK.

The building is named for PETA donor and former "Price Is Right" host Bob Barker. Statues and awards of his on display in the office were not damaged in the crash.

"We were thrilled the Bob Barker awards came out unscathed," PETA VP Tracy Reiman said.
