Google Wallet to Debut Today?

After several months of speculation and development, Google is expected to launch its Google Wallet today, according to reports.

Google has apparently sent out documentation to its partners which states that Google Wallet launches Sept. 19, according to TechCrunch. GigaOm also provided a photo of a nearby Peet's Coffee & Tea that said, "Tap and pay by smartphone using Google Wallet."

Does that count as confirmation? We think it's a good indication, but there's still a little doubt -- and that's why others point to the updated Google Wallet website. There's also been a video released for Google Wallet featuring Jason Alexander's "Seinfeld" character, George Constanza.

Google has been working on Google Wallet for more than a year now, incorporating near-field communication technology so customers can simply tap or wave their smartphones near terminals to pay for goods and services. Google has also been sued by PayPal for allegedly stealing trade secrets after it poached Osama Bedier from the company, the man who became Google's vice president of payments.

We think it's probably a good bet that Google Wallet is coming soon, but as of this writing, there's been no official word from Google.
