Lucky Lamb Saved From Possible Trip to Slaughterhouse

A lamb named Lily avoided a trip to the slaughterhouse thanks to a high school student who rescued her.

Hundreds of animals were auctioned off Saturday at California's Santa Barbara County Fair. Most will end up at a slaughterhouse.

A lamb named Lily was meant to be one of those animals, but at the last minute, high school student Leslie Torres pulled her out of the auction, NBC affiliate KSBY reported.

"I didn't want her to die, so when I got told there was a sanctuary that was interested in her, I pulled her out at the last minute," said Torres.

Erika Satkoski has adopted Lily and will be giving her a new home.

"Of all the animals here, it's sad that just one has been saved, but I think it's an important lesson to learn and I want to support and be behind this," Satkoski said.
