Square Feet: Tour the Winchester Mystery House

We visit the famous Winchester Mystery House, a national and historical landmark in San Jose, Ca where we’ll see the beautiful Victorian style architecture of this unique but bizarre estate and also get a peek at a few spaces not usually seen by the general public. Building began in 1902 by Sarah Winchester, an heiress and widow of the Winchester Rifle fortune. Sarah believed she was being haunted by spirits (especially those killed by the Winchester Rifle) and so continued to build and build on the home in order to confuse those spirits. Though filled with superstitious and eccentric design elements, the home features beautiful craftsmanship. For more information on the property, visit the website. This episode of Open House was hosted from 34 Greene St., New York, NY. For more information on this property, please contact Melanie Lazenby of Prudential Douglas Elliman at 212-727-6131.
