“She Looked Beautiful”: WWII Vet's Wife Wore Silk Parachute Wedding Dress

An Indiana couple who’s been married for 66 years celebrated their anniversary this April. Their love began when James, a WWII vet, gave his wife Phyllis his silk parachute. She turned it into her wedding dress, that she still has to this day.

This month marks more than six decades since James Hill and his wife, Phyllis, got married.

What's extra special about this couple is their wedding dress — made from James' silk parachute from when he served in the Air Force in WWII, according to NBC affiliate WFIE.

"All I know is she looked pretty, beautiful in it," James says, recounting their wedding day.

The dress is one of two in existence — the other is at the Smithsonian in Washington.
