2019 NBA Draft: Jordan Bell Praises Bol Bol Just After Warriors Pass

There are awkward situations, and then there is praising an NBA draft prospect moments after your team passed on him.

That's what happened to Warriors big man Jordan Bell on Thursday night. Bol Bol was not selected in the first round of the 2019 NBA Draft, and Bell praised his fellow University of Oregon product by tweeting that the league was sleeping on the prospect.

Golden State was one of those teams, having drafted University of Michigan guard Jordan Poole with the No. 28 overall selection. Bell probably didn't have that in mind when he saw Bol slip, though, and laughed it off a few minutes later.

Many mock drafts had the Warriors targeting guards in the wake of Klay Thompson's torn ACL, and some even had Golden State selecting the Michigan product. However, Poole was projected by many to fall into the second round, while Bol was seen as more likely to be selected in the first round. Bol carried inherent risk due to his small frame and because his lone season at Oregon ended after nine games thanks to a broken foot, but his talent was thought to be enough to make a team select the son of late NBA veteran Manute Bol somewhere in the first round.

Bell was just talking up a player from his alma mater rather than knocking Poole. Besides, things can't get as awkward him between him and the Michigan product as they would between Poole and Draymond Green, a Michigan State alum.
