A's Vs. Royals Lineups: Khris Davis Moves Up in Order After Home Run

A day after the A's exploded for a season-high 19 runs, Oakland ace Mike Fiers takes the hill to try to make it two in a row over the Kansas City Royals.

Fiers, 34, enters the game with a 12-3 record and 3.46 ERA in 27 starts this season. The right-hander has won 10 straight decisions and hasn't suffered a loss since May 1. In seven career starts against the Royals, Fiers is 2-3 with a 5.30 ERA.

Kansas City will counter with left-hander Mike Montgomery. The 30-year-old is 2-4 with a 4.46 ERA in seven starts since being acquired from the Cubs. For the season, Montgomery is 3-6 with a 4.99 ERA. He is 3-0 with a 4.05 ERA in five career games against Oakland, including two starts.

A's designated hitter Khris Davis moves up from seventh to fifth in the lineup after a three-hit game Monday night. Davis blasted his 19th home run of the season in the ninth inning, giving Oakland its 19th run of the game.

Chad Pinder will start in right field and bat sixth against the left-handed Montgomery. Seth Brown will handle left field and hit eighth after making his major-league debut on Monday. The 27-year-old went 2-for-6 with an RBI and two runs scored.
