D'Angelo Russell Excited to Be Part of Warriors' ‘video Game' Backcourt

There's no telling how long D'Angelo Russell will be a member of the Warriors, but the All-Star guard is looking to get everything he can out of joining one of the league's top-tier organizations.

The Warriors acquired the 23-year-old in the sign-and-trade that sent Kevin Durant to the Brooklyn Nets, and rumors almost immediately popped up that Russell was not long for the Bay Area. Rumors that Warriors general manager Bob Myers stamped out almost as quickly as they popped up.

When Russell entered the league, he claimed he wanted to model his game after his now teammate Steph Curry. Now, he gets the chance to learn first-hand from the best shooter the game has ever seen.

Of course, Curry isn't the only All-Star Russell will be joining in the Bay Area. Once Klay Thompson returns from his ACL injury, the three will form a dynamic trio that Russell is thrilled to be a part of.

"I think it's like a video game," Russell told HoopsHype's Alex Kennedy. "You got three guys who can shoot the three at a high clip. I think that's really exciting for the fans. Threes are obviously worth more than twos at the end of the day, so I think it gives us an opportunity to win. I'm so excited, and I think we're going to bring a lot of excitement [to the fans]."

As Russell prepares to enter his first season with the Dubs, the Ohio State product is looking forward to learning all he can from Curry, Thompson and Steve Kerr.

"I think this situation gives me an opportunity to be a sponge," Russell said. "I can learn a lot from everyone: a Hall of Fame coach – one of the winningest coaches ever – and from three different players who are Hall of Famers. It's cool, man. This is a Hall of Fame organization that I get to a part of. "

While Thompson is on the shelf, it'll be up to Russell, Curry and Draymond Green to steady the Warriors in a Western Conference that took steroids over the offseason.

Many are skeptical about Russell's fit in the Warriors' system, but the electric guard appears ready to fit into Golden State's championship system.
