When the Giants score, they win. At least, that's been the case over the last six games, over which San Francisco has been shut out three times, but gone 3-3. The Giants will see how many runs they can push across the plate when they open up a four-game series against the Pirates at Oracle Park on Monday night.
Madison Bumgarner (9-8, 3.81) will get the start for San Francisco, as the left-hander is in the midst of a dominant stretch. He has lost just once in his last 14 starts, but has actually had a fair bit of trouble with Pittsburgh over the course of his career, having gone just 3-5 in eight starts, albeit with a respectable 3.22 ERA.
He'll be taking on a Pirates team that has struggled in the second half, as Pittsburgh has been one of the three worst teams in all of baseball since the All-Star break. The Pirates will start Trevor Williams (7-6, 5.16) in the series opener, who has experienced some success against San Francisco in the past. The right-hander is 1-0 with a 1.42 ERA in three career starts against the Giants.
Coverage begins with Giants Pregame Live at 5:30 p.m. PT on NBC Sports Bay Area and streaming on the My Teams app.
