Lethal on Offense, Durant a Central Figure of Warriors' Defense

Player: Kevin Durant

Position: Small forward

Height/weight: 6-9, 240

Age: 27

Salary: $26.54 million (Year 1 of a two-year contract with player option for Year 2)

2015-16 in review: In his final season with the Thunder, Durant averaged 28.2 points (third in the NBA), 8.2 rebounds (first among small forwards) and 5.0 assists (second among small forwards) and finished fifth the balloting for the MVP award.

2016-17 outlook: Durant's move from Oklahoma City to the Bay Area represents a seismic shift, rearranging the balance of power in the Western Conference. The arrival of the league's most efficient post scorer – who also shoots a nice trey – promises severe headaches for opposing coaching staffs. He's also a terrific defender who will be a central figure in the anticipated "rim protection by committee" approach. Durant's arrival, quite simply, makes the Warriors heavy title favorites.

Floor: He'll need time to adjust but still should be no worse than an All-Star.

Ceiling: He flourishes at both ends in his new environment, and wins his second MVP award.
