The Sharks want to build on what made them successful last year, and that means retaining players from the 2015-16 roster.
San Jose reportedly signed forward Matt Nieto to a one-year deal, according to Renaud Lavoie of TVA Sports in Montreal.
The deal is reportedly worth $735,000.
Nieto, who turns 24 years old in November, has played all three NHL seasons with the Sharks.
He finished with 17 points (8g, 9a) in 67 games played last year.
