Report: Giants Among Five Teams That Have Been Scouting Rangers Closer

The Giants bullpen has been one of the few bright spots this season. They rank 10th in MLB and 6th in the NL with a 3.63 ERA this season entering play on Sunday.

But they can always get better, which would explain why they are keeping an eye on one of the top closers in baseball.

The Giants are one of five teams that has had a scout watching Texas Rangers closer Keone Kela, according to Fort Worth Star-Telegrams' Jeff Wilson.

According to the report, the Giants, Red Sox, Indians, D'backs and Pirates have had scouts in Arlington for "upwards of a week."

Kela, who is in his fourth MLB season, has converted 23 of 24 saves this season. He has a 3.28 ERA, is averaging 10.9 strikeouts per nine innings and has a 3.58 strikeout to walk ratio.

The 25-year-old Kela is under team control for three more seasons. He's arbitration eligible for the first time this winter.
