The cities of Novato — hometown of Rams quarterback Jared Goff — and San Mateo — hometown of Patriots quarterback Tom Brady — have crafted a friendly bet based on the result of Sunday's big game in Atlanta.

The terms? The mayor behind the team that ultimately comes up short will have to deliver a goody basket to the winning city during a city council meeting. The losing city's mayor will also have to give a donation to the other city's local charity of choice.
San Mateo Mayor Diane Papan's charity of choosing is the San Mateo Police Activities League. Novato Mayor Eric Lucan has selected North Marin Community Services.
The mayors of both cities weren't afraid to share some playful barbs with each other leading up to the championship contest.

"Experience wins out in this game," Papan said in a statement. "This will be our hometown hero Tom Brady’s ninth Super Bowl and he's won five already. In fact, his first Super Bowl was a win over the Rams in 2002…when Jared Goff was only 7 years old."
Lucan responded in a statement, saying, "San Mateo's quarterback may have been to the Super Bowl several times, but Novato's quarterback has never lost one! I'm sure we'll be welcoming a donation from San Mateo after Sunday's big game."
The ageless Brady, playing in the Super Bowl at the age of 41, grew up in San Mateo and later attended Junipero Serra High School.
Goff, making his Super Bowl debut at the age of 24, spent his childhood years in Novato before playing high school football at Marin Catholic High School in Kentfield. He went on to play his college ball at the University of California, Berkeley.
