“Manhattanhenge” in NYC

A solar phenomenon distinct to the Big Apple drew some big crowds at sunset on Monday. The event is called “Manhattan-henge”. Reknowned astrophysicist Neil Degrasse Tyson coined the term. He calls it a unique urban phenomenon. It’s when the setting sun aligns perfectly with the streets running east and west on Manhattan’s city grid. It did not disappoint – creating a ray of light between buildings – and lighting up Instagram in the process.
