Alameda Church Removes Teetering Cross

Inclement weather is to blame for changes at an East Bay church. A nearly 100-year-old cross used to stand atop the dome of St. Joseph Basilica in Alameda. Last month, however, parishioners noticed it was swaying back and forth so engineers decided not to take chances, and removed it. The cross now sits in the foyer. The church is still deciding whether the cross can be repaired and put back or if it will need to be replaced.
