Alameda City Leaders Debate License Plate Readers

Leaders in the city of Alameda will reportedly debate a controversial strategy they believe can cut down on the number of car thefts. City council members on Tuesday will consider a plan to add about a dozen license plate readers. The devices would scan each and every car going to and from Oakland. That plan would cost about a half-million dollars. Privacy advocates fear the data could end up in the wrong hands.
